The Catholic Foundation is pleased to welcome Bishop Charles Thompson to the Diocese of Evansville. A native of Kentucky, Bishop Thompson was most recently the Vicar General for the Archdiocese of Louisville.

As the new Bishop for the Diocese, Bishop Thompson will serve on the Board of Directors as one voting member. The newly appointed Vicar General, Rev. Bernard Etienne who is also the pastor of Holy Rosary Parish, will serve on the Board of Directors, as well.

Bishop Thompson has been busy meeting the demands of his office and has graciously adopted many calendars as his own. The three Wisdom Days, held in the fall, were scheduled so that Bishop Thompson could greet the seniors at each location.

A graduate of Bellarmine University, with a degree in Accounting, Bishop Thompson will be a wonderful asset to the Board overseeing the nearly $28 million in permanent gifts. As bishop, one of his primary tasks is to proclaim the Word of God. Bishop Thompson states, “In addition to an ongoing commitment to prayer, study and reflection, I must be a good listener and collaborator.”  His motto, represented in his coat of arms, is “Christ the Cornerstone”.
